I'm not sure if it's because I traveled a couple weeks ago, or because I've been sick for a week now, or busy and preoccupied with the holidays or all the projects waiting for my time, but for one reason or another, I was completely shocked to walk in to a house full of finished sheetrock, fully taped and mudded! It looks so much more like a home now and less like a bunch of sticks and wires!
When we built our last house, the framing stage made the house feel small, and then we expected the blueboard to make it feel even smaller but it had the opposite effect. This time the framing stage made the house feel big, and the sheetrock has made some rooms feel even bigger and others feel smaller. The ceiling height is having a big impact on the overall feel too. It's SOOOOO exciting to see it come together all around us in 3 dimensions, or 5 dimensions if you count the construction smells and the blaring mexican music playing on work days. :) They really add to the ambiance.
I'm not sure these pics will help for those of you who struggle to imagine the finished product, but it sure is fun for us to look at them over and over!
Ready for the sheetrock tour?
I was sort of done taking pics by the time we got to the right side of the house, so the tour ends abruptly with no photos of the guest room, hallway, mudroom, or hobby room...Sorry! Couple more caveats. 1) the blue cast light in all the photos is from the blue window protective covering layer during all the messy trades - brick, plaster etc. 2) any doors you see in photos are temporary construction doors.

Fun??? it was for us!! There's more fun in store too - the brick starts Thursday. They laid up a tiny sample on the front of the house for us to approve, but we have to wait for the mortar to dry before it will look like the end product. They laid the sample in the shade so it'll probably take 2-3 days for it to dry to its final color.
Also, I'm getting close to finishing another upholstery project that I will be SOOOO proud to tell you about. Stay tuned!
