The Living Room Reveal- Finally!!!!!!!!!

Image
Well, we've been in the house 10 weeks, so for 10 weeks I've kept you waiting on the living room.  I'm sure you were all glued to your screens just waiting for this right?  :) Actually, the reason I've refused to share photos of the living room until now is because we didn't have our chairs.  They were finally delivered, though not without a grand finale fiasco, on Friday.  I've already griped publicly about the ridiculousness of the furniture department manager at the Lewisville, TX Dillards so I'll spare you the re-telling of that story.  Just know that the delivery department dispatchers and drivers almost entirely made up for it.  They showed up on Friday to pick up our loaner chair and to deliver our 2 new chairs.  So they took the loaner chair out to the truck and brought in chair number 1 which was structurally good, but had an ink pen mark on the cushion.  They came back empty handed without chair number 2 and explained the leg was crack...

Game Room - Complete-ish!

I was content to just let this room be, but there were a couple mornings where we had visits from subs to fix a couple things around the house, and when we have indoor visitors, Gus is a bit of a challenge.  He's socially inept.  :)  We all have our areas for improvement, right?  So, there were a couple days where Mom was coerced volunteered into hanging out in the game room with the kids and Gus with the door closed.  During that time she sort of compulsively rearranged furniture, laid out our big area rug, and organized toys! So that got the ball rolling.  Then, when we heard nugget and doodle's little cousins were coming to spend the weekend for their birthday party, we knew we had to get some window treatments up in case anyone ended up sleeping in there, and they did! So those were the two key catalysts to the progress in this room and I'm so grateful for both! As a reminder, here's what it looked like during our transition phase, where we focuse...

Odds and Ends

I've really really really enjoyed the last 1.5 weekends of peace.  No agenda.  No deadline.  Just peace in the new house.  :)  That's not to say we haven't kept busy - just that we haven't had a looming reason everything needed to be finished by a certain date.  In fact, we tackled a great landscaping project this weekend, or started it anyway.  Isn't that cool?  We started it and weren't under the gun to finish it!!  I'll update on that once we get further along.  That said, I'm kind of itching for a project.  hahahahahaha  I thought this post may spark some inspiration. For now I thought I'd share some of the odds and ends I worked on before entertaining our first overnight guests, and before our first party.  Speed was of the essence on these random projects, so I don't have a lot of good photos.  Still I feel compelled to share how I spent my personal time with all of you.  What IS that? PATIO LIGHTS Ev...

Nugget and Doodle's 4th and 2nd Birthday Party!

Image
What a great weekend!  The kids are passed out and I am about ready to drop myself!  Brent's getting on a plane so the craziness continues, but we had a great time celebrating the nugget's 4th and the doodle's 2nd birthday.  Their actual birthdays are only a few weeks apart, and given everything we've had going on, we decided to combine their parties this year.   Grandma and Grandpa came down from Missouri, and their cousin George and 6 week old cousin Penelope made the crazy road trip too.  The kids had never really met while old enough to remember so this was a lot of fun to see them together. The theme of the party was bugs and butterflies!  I had so many fun buggy activities planned for the kids that we didn't even get to.  We got a barbecue spread from a restaurant just down the road, but for snacks and apps, the kids dined on butterfly fruit, ants on logs, and oreo dirt and worm cups.  Mammy and P may have kept the mai tais flowing as...
